A Rosé Summer …

. . . or so I predict. While rosé is certainly a year-round drink in our home, it definitely has a special place as the weather has warmed up, and the balcony beckons on warm, pleasant evenings. And we’ve been doing our best to encourage Vintages/LCBO to continue providing more of them.

While I’m not on the bandwagon in support of the extremely light-coloured rosés, and will present one of the lovely darker-coloured examples in the next few days, this is one of my favourites of the summer so far.

SAINT AIX ROSÉ 2015, AP Coteaux d'Aix en Provence

Vintages #451906 • $22.95 • 750ml. • WD Score 88.5/100
This Provençal rosé is light salmon-pink, with delicate aromas of apple blossom, red apples, orange zest, strawberries and raspberries. The wine is dry, with tangy acidity, very modest alcohol and medium body. The fruit is crisp and clean on the palate, and the finish is pleasant and lightly mineral. Very linear and direct — one of my favourite rosés so far this spring.
