France — Champagne • $68.95 • 92/100

This 2006 vintage Champagne was disgorged on 2017/01/04. It shows as medium yellow with shades of old gold. The nose is surprisingly fresh, with bright lemon, grapefruit, red apple fruit and notes of dried herbs and toast. The wine is just off-dry, but the high acidity makes the wine crisp and slightly tart. The pleasant toast and brioche flavours frame the remarkably bright, fresh fruit on the palate, with added notes of white peaches, red berries and spice. It is nicely textured, with a firm, acidic and mineral finish. The producer is a CM — a Coopérative de manipulation — and the blend is 50% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Meunier and 10% Pinot Meunier. • LCBO Release 05/27/2017 • LCBO id#483099 • Find it at your nearest LCBO • THE MERCHANT VINTNER LTD.
