New Zealand — Marlborough • $23.95 • 89.5/100

The wine is a lighter straw colour, with rather subtle aromatics suggesting green herbs, grapefruit and green apples. On the palate the fruit jumps to the fore, driven by the bright acidity, and showing more complexity and verve, with focused, vibrant grapefruit and a stony minerality on the drying finish. This Sauvignon Blanc is supplemented by a small (unspecified) amount of Semillon, with a 10% portion fermented in older oak, and a similar portion fermented with wild yeasts. This is a compelling, understated Marlborough Sauvignon that is moving away from the successful Marlborough stereotype. • Tasted 2017-06-24 • LCBO id#63941 • Find it at your nearest LCBOCORK AND CROWN (Agent)
