This is the 2015 edition of Norman Hardie’s Niagara Chardonnay, and to me the style of this wine has drawn much closer to that of the County. It partly shows with the exceedingly slim alcohol level of 11.9%, but is also reflected in the edgy, just ripe fruit that allows a nuance of green herbs to blend into the smoky-flinty lemon-lime, green apple and honeydew melon nose. The wine is bone-dry, with vivid acidity and a medium-weight body. A leesy creaminess balances the crisp fruit, and the herbal element continues to add interest to the palate. Oak is subtle, and the finish is long, saline and stony. • Tasted 2017-07-08 • LCBO id#184432 • Find it at your nearest LCBOHARDIE WINES (Agent)
