LOUIS BROCHET HBH 1ER CRU CHAMPAGNE 2002

France — Champagne • $69.95 • WD Score 94/100

This is an enchanting wine from récoltant-manipulant Louis Brochet that is showing some interesting bottle age. Start with the colour that shows subtle gold highlights, to the rich aromas of toast, honey and sponge toffee, leading into subtle fruit that takes on the character of tarte Tatin. But here the expectations change, as the palate jumps with still-vivacious acidity, that hides any residual sugar save for a moderate honeyed depth, and keeps the palate quite fresh, with toast, lively fruit and a lengthy, stony finish. This is a real treat: an aged, vintage Growers Champagne at a very fair price. • Tasted 2017-12-09 • LCBO id#385815 • Find it at your nearest LCBO • B. COJOCARU AGENCIES INC. (Agent)
