This lovely Savennières is medium yellow, with gold highlights. The nose suggests white flowers and beeswax, with a hint of resin, and then light lemon and yellow apple notes underneath. High acidity balances the robust alcohol that sits on a bone-dry frame. There is so much life on the palate: seemingly rather neutral until you begin to realize that the subtle components are edgy, driven by the acidity, the underlying minerality, and the waxy texture. The fruit replays on the palate, but that’s not really the point here. Oak is present but integrating. This can certainly age for five to ten years, but is exciting to drink in its comparative youth. • Tasted 2017-02-04 • LCBO id#470971 • Find it at your nearest LCBOBRAND NEW DAY WINES & SPIRITS (Agent)
