ROTLLAN TORRA PRIORAT RESERVA 2011

Spain — Priorat • $24.95 • 90/100

This wine shows the extracted side of Grenache, but does so with some finesse and balance. The wine is deep purple in colour, with dense, very ripe (and perhaps slightly jammy) plum, blueberry and blackberry fruit on the nose. The elevated alcohol, robust tannins and extracted fruit yield a full body, fairly well balanced by firm acidity. Similarly a cassis liqueur element in the fruit contrasts with some remaining juicy freshness. In sum, the bold structure over-arches the significant extraction, and the wine maintains its difficult balancing act. Very good indeed, and a fine introduction to Priorat. • Tasted 2017-08-05 • LCBO id#511048 • Find it at your nearest LCBOHALPERN ENTERPRISES (Agent)
