CUNE RESERVA 2012

Spain — Rioja • $26.95 • 89/100

This takes me back a little bit towards a somewhat more traditional style of Rioja, that is consistent with the winery style. The nose is more savoury than fruity — dried herbs, black olives, a little wood spice backed by cherry and plum aromas. Tannins are fine, acidity is brisk, the body is medium to full — nicely structured for the longer term. The fruit is both ripe and drying on the palate and the savoury elements are nicely integrated. The Tempranillo is supplemented by a mix of 15% Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo, and the wine is aged eighteen months in French and American oak with another 24 months in bottle. A well-crafted wine. • Tasted 2017-09-16 • LCBO id#417659 • Find it at your nearest LCBOVON TERRA ENTERPRISES LTD. (Agent)
